One of the Pokemon that shares a personality similar to Kimmuriel himself, Phalar is distinguished from others of his kind by the fact that he cries very little - in fact, he makes very little sound at all, preferring to drift ominously just behind his trainer's shoulder and stare. Phalar is reserved and emotionally guarded, preferring to focus on his own interests - whatever those might be - rather than interact with Pokemon or people directly. However, he is rather attached to his trainer, and in unfamiliar or scary situations, will stick to Kimmuriel's side like glue. While he lacks the psychic ability necessary to communicate with his trainer directly, he's taken well to learning the complexity of drow sign language, and Kimmuriel rarely has to give directions more than once before he learns a command. His trainer is currently teaching him to use his natural abilities to confuse and whittle down opponents in hit and run attacks before knocking them unconscious in a concentrated barrage, both things he has no qualms about doing. Recently evolved into a Cofagrigus. His powers are now more potent, but he's also a bit more aggressive...which Kimmuriel naturally considers a good thing.
Phalar is the drow word for 'grave'. Other words Kimmuriel uses for him are elghinn and llarnbuss, the drow words for 'death' and 'third', respectively.
