Kimmuriel has a LOT OF BULLSHIT and a LOT OF IT INVOLVES GOING IN PEOPLE'S HEADS. The most directly relevant one is the ability to read surface thoughts, which basically translates to "he can respond to the narration in bracket tags etc if that's there", but here is a more detailed overview of his powers!

He has more puppet-y/trapped in your own head as he pilots your shit stuff but that will always be negotiated out OOCly before I inflict it on people ICly.

Most attempts to read Dongfang Qingcang's surface thoughts are met with the feeling of a burning fire at odds with the very cold sensation of being watched. This is his default 'emotionless' state.

If Dongfang Qingcang is feeling happy, flustered, or petulant in his metatext, then the power that shields his mind is still there, but 'thinner' and the sensation of being watched goes away, allowing scattered surface thoughts to be caught.

If he is feeling anger, frustration, or annoyance, the power that shields his mind maintains the burning sensation, but instead of feeling watched, it will fell like someone is actively and firmly saying 'no'.

If he is feeling fear, then his mind is open for all readings but its probably going to be a lot of memories of torture spilling out along with whatever else he's thinking of.

it's possible i'm saying something you already know, so apologies if so! but i'm okay with kimmuriel reading aerith's bracket text. she's never had to try and shield herself from mind reading before, but she's also an open book for the most part so honestly? she probably wouldn't care much beyond him hearing about the cetra lmao which i'm fine with them getting into whenever!

I'm totally fine with Kimmuriel "reading" Faris' brackets and drawing his own conclusions about why tf Faris is Like That. Faris will not have any qualms about starting a fight with him if Kimmuriel brings up things like "why do you keep switching pronouns" or WORSE, "that seems like an emotion that is not directly related to being a pirate."

Rem has never had to shield herself from her [narrative] and thoughts! Though I would rather this be an intentional thing on his part rather than just a passive 'i can hear your thoughts' background effect.

Much like Kimmuriel, Sidestep maintains psychic shielding to block people from reading their thoughts, but they do sometimes accidentally project strong emotions (usually shock, fear, distress) that he might be able to pick up. With a bit of work he might be able to get more. I can also make sure to mention when they're less protected/easier to read.

He's welcome to try deeper invasions/mind control, but it won't work as intended (they will fight back) and will likely go incredibly badly for both of them! I encourage this, it would be awesome.

Reading your character's mind, what are they likely to pick up?
Cthulhu influence and the Horrors: Sherlock's mind shouldn't feel right. There's a darkness there that doesn't belong, an unknown which should have been left alone, something that calls for him to the Abyss. The Horrors™ from glimpsing what humans should not perceive, vast, grotesque. Dying in multiple, painful ways

Being a Holmes: There is just a lot of information and thoughts (and emotion) bouncing around at almost all times

Mental/Emotional Trauma: Because of his childhood trauma, Sherlock lived most of his life with repressed or altered memories. He's since remembered and corrected them, but he's lived with an altered perception of reality for most of his life. Part of what traumatized him might be hereditary, and he already shows signs, which he fears

Major hydrophobia, has nearly drowned at least twice, his fear is so strong that being partially submerged into water will cause him to blackout

Jon: Jon is Sherlock's tulpa, partner-in-crime, brother, anima, a part of his soul, a part of Sherlock's persona separated from him to give a lonely, hurt child a friend and protector. "Jon is the personification of Sherlock's survival instincts, his will to live and his desire to be happy" (SHCO Artbook, p. 17). Jon is no longer "active" as he was before with parts of him more integrated back into Sherlock, but there is always the possibility that Jon will come back. In fact, Sherlock has called out for Jon in times of distress, so he's not against his return either

Additional notes: Sherlock has weakened mental fortitude from previous detachments from reality and seeing things humans aren't meant to understand/Cthulhu influences. This makes him more susceptible to mental/emotional based powers or suggestion. He may become aware of things beyond normal human perception, but he doesn't understand it or becomes lost in what's revealed.
